Butter Cookies 牛油曲奇饼

Ling's out of town to attend our friend's wedding.  Didn't bring along the kids as the elder one is preparing for her year end school exam.
My god daughter misses Ling very much, no mood to do almost everything (eat, play, watching TV, playing games, etc).
Decided to bake some cookies (oopssss ~~~ me baking the cookies hehehe ~~~!) to cheer her up.  She was happily prepared and worked on the recipe of the cutout butter cookies which I promised her earlier.
We were not satisfied with the 1st bake (over baked though we follow the instructions).  Thank God, she still could joke about it :  " eehh, we added cocoa powder into it?! (knowing her mood wasn't "sunny")
As she has to attend a tuition class, I decided to prepare for another round of dough which some should be ready by then her class ends.  She helped to mold some reminding dough, made a little dice using the last bit of dough.
She's alright after dinner and chat with Ling.
Overall, she likes the cookies (especially the Minnie Mouse) and we managed to take some photos.

Little J specially requested to mold these cutie bears for him, he ate quite a lot of the cookies.

Gummy Bear Sponge Cake

My godson, J, wanted to eat only the gummy bears.  Ling baked the sponge cake and decorated with those gummy bears.
Cut the cake into 8 pieces with a gummy bear on it so that little J wont eat all at once!

Lovely Figure Sandwiches

Today, my god-daughter has school excursion to Singapore Discovery Centre after her usual lessons; another long day for her.
She decided to bring along bento for the afternoon; too many items added to her usual super heavy school bag, have decided to pack for her and her good friend ~ R, a very plain box of food contains of  figure sandwiches, waffle cookies and GardeniaTwiigies Choc-A-Lot.
Glad that I could make use of the facial expression & 'happy' wording imprint which I bought from 100yen shop in Malaysia on these sandwiches.

Little Frog, Rabbit & Bear Sandwich Bento

Last evening, my god-daughter has requested to have a bento as she has to attend Maths trail @ Terminal 3 this afternoon.
I took out these 3 little cute bread cutters which Ling bought me as my birthday gift last winter.
Have decided to wake up early this morning to prepare a simple charaben for her, but I was 'OVERSLEPT'!
Fortunately, Ling woke up much earlier and manage to prepare nutella & tuna sandwiches for her daughter instead.
She shared with her classmate R who was amazed with the little imprints on the sandwiches.

"Smiley" Kungfu Panda 功夫熊貓便当

It has been ages I have yet prepared any charabento, ~~~ simple reason : no mood!
Browsing through photos taken weeks ago, has little inspiration to make a simple Kungfu Panda bento for breakfast today.
Used bamboo charcoal sandwich and white bread for the panda and filled with cheese.

Chocolate Ganache Cake

Last Christmas, Ling & family were away on several days vacation.
She baked few chocolate ganache cakes, her princess brought to the tuition teacher as belated Christmas gift.
Ling decorated this super delicious cake with some Christmas decorations which she bought from Phoon Huat
I am not a big chocolate fan myself, but I'd "gobbled" 2 big pieces!!  OOpppss...

2nd "workshop" on Snow Skin Mooncake 冰皮月饼

After the 1st trial of making the snow skin mooncakes, Karen's colleague shared another recipe with her.
We made pandan flavour snowskin mooncakes today, using this new recipe.  The taste and texture were much better, nicer than the 1st trial we made.
Most of us like this recipe best as the taste were nicer.
We bought some new "character prints" and they turned out great too, some prints were not visible ~ sigh!

We even tried in on "egg" & "konnyaku" moulds!   LOL ~ it works!
Click here for more images on flickr.com (some not too visible on its print)

Piggy & Bear Pancakes

As mentioned, 2 days of school holidays.
Ling prepared breakfast for all this morning.  It's a great pancakes (compared to the one I made sometime last week - 天渊之别 far apart as heaven & earth! Take a look on these lovely piggy and bear.  She used the same brand, White Wings Shaker Golden Syrup Pancake Mix.  No character moulds this time ~ Freehand!
We ate with butter spread, ice cream and even Macdonald's hotcake syrup.  Delicious ~ Thanks Ling, it's great!

Konnyaku こんにゃく

Been craving for Konnyaku past weeks and after the "nightmare" just now, I have decided to enlighten my day by making konnyaku as "Dessert of the Day".
Bought the Konnyaku Jelly Powder from neighbourhood mini-mart (there're different brands of konnyaku power, this was recommended by a friend) and used the various bento dishes trays instead of konnyaku moulds. Added some golden kiwi and canned fruits.

A little friend of us likes to eat this dessert, especially these various animals moulds of Konnyaku attracted her attention most. Will add "colours" on my next round.

Animal's Buns

Ling's mom made some sardine bun's someday ago. Everyone was raving about it.
So today, we tried out with various fillings (sausage, chesse, red bean paste, tuna, etc)
Ling added little details on the buns for the kids ~ Little piggy, mouse, bear & chicks. Our good friend, Diana made the chocolate dough into "rugby"!

The verdict? Everyone loves the cute buns but the dough is a bit hard.
Probably becoz we put in too much fillings (greedy!!!) and too little dough. Some of our mouse even "pooped" (too much filling) while we baked them.
We will keep that in mind, more dough & less filling the next time we bake.
At one glance, these buns look like Penang famous Tau Sa Piah.
